*June 6 (Kay & Kate) Lazy Girl* We’ll be walking from the church parking lot to this greenway loop within the Saluda city limits. It is an easy walk of about 2.5 miles through the woods and along a stream. Learn why it is called the Lazy Girl.
*June 20 (Kate & Kay) Judd's Peak/SullivanTemple/Fire Station* Judd’s Peak overlooks the mountains which nestle Saluda. We will hike down the summit through beautiful woods with a meandering creek. We will pass Sullivan’s Temple, an old historic African-American Missionary Baptist Church and learn about Madame Phoebia Sullivan, the well-known African-American for whom it is named. Then we will continue on to the Saluda Fire Station for a tour. This is an easy, descending hike.
*July 4 (Frank & Ann) Missing 40* A one mile loop of moderate walking that will take 1-2 hours. Water shoes recommended. The trailhead is located on Pearson Falls Road just over the North Pacolet River. The trail is well blazed, kid and pet friendly, and has several easy water crossings.
July 18 (Frank & Bruce) Green River Cove Trail This is an out and back moderate walk of 3 miles or more beginning near the Wilderness Cove Campground. It follows the river upstream.
*August 1 (Kay & Kate) Saluda Passage of the Palmetto Trail* This will be an in and out hike beginning at the trailhead parking lot on Anders Road near the Talisman Camp. We will explore what was the African-American “Kingdom of the Happy Land” on this moderate walk.
August 15 (Betsy, Kathy & Jim ) Twin Lakes This is an open swim 11:00- 4:00. Enjoy a guided walk on the trails of Twin Lakes, one of which leads to a meditation platform. Bring your own picnic but please leave Fido at home.
