OUR Endowment
In 2016 Saluda Community Land Trust (SCLT) became 9 years old. At that point we were at a crossroads: we wanted to continue our valuable work of creating public nature parks and preserving our environment, but we also needed to be looking towards long-term sustainability.
With this knowledge, nineteen SCLT members joined together on March 3rd, 2016 to discuss the need for an endowment fund. At that meeting an agreement was created, with contributions given to Polk County Community Foundation (PCCF) to open and manage the endowment. The charitable purpose of this permanent endowment is to provide funds for SCLT to pay for upkeep on SCLT properties and trails, thus facilitating sustainability so these properties continue to provide needed open space and connections with nature for many generations to come.
If you believe in SCLT’s mission and work, and believe that this generation has a moral obligation to preserve our natural resources for future generations, please consider contributing to the endowment to cover long term maintenance of trails and parks owned by SCLT. This endowment fund is held and managed by the Polk County Community Foundation (PCCF) for the benefit of SCLT. Therefore, contributions for the endowment fund must be made out to PCCF and mailed directly to them at 255 S. Trade St., Tryon, NC 28782 with instructions to be placed in the SCLT fund, or SCLT will be glad to send your checks made out to PCCF to the foundation. Please consider putting the endowment in your will. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of our board members at (828) 749-1560.
Donors are listed as permanent founders of the endowment if they gave a minimum $1,000 donation by December 31, 2016.
Contributions for current projects and operations of SCLT should go directly to SCLT, you can make a donation here.
